The PIAA AAA State Team Championship now resides at 17th and Girard! Congratulations to the St. Joe’s Prep golf team on winning the overall team title yesterday at Heritage Hills Golf Resort and Conference Center in York, Pa. Finishing with low man honors on the Hawks team was sophomore Jack Mitchell, whose round of 79 included a Hole-in-One on the par three 5th hole. All four of the remaining team members (Paul Mauer, Nick Calabrese, Alex Butler and Mike Burns) each came in with identical 81’s. Their 322 total was good enough for a three stroke victory over Scranton Prep in what proved to be very difficult playing conditions. As a St. Joe’s Prep Alum (Class of 1995) and a former member of the golf team it brings me great pride seeing these juniors bring the state title home.
